the project

Through consultant freelance work, I worked with the teams at Facet Interactive and Concierge Diamonds to curate a digital experience that helped present the evolution of the concierge brand into their digital persona.

process

The process was much like most website redesign projects, where I followed a workflow that leaned heavily on stakeholder interviews from the very beginning. I crafted wireframes and designs, and built the working prototype for the website in Webflow. All work was backed by strategic research to achieve set milestones for the Concierge Diamonds team.

driven by user experience

The primary goal of the website was to create an elevated, sophisticated experience to the Concierge Diamonds online persona. This first started through an analysis of their competitive landscape, market research and persona development. From there I established a component library in wireframes that would lend itself to flexibility for progressive enhancements, consistency across multiple templates and layouts, and a content strategy to put forward an experience that catered to both men and women.

implementing a responsive design with in-medium strategy

Building a prototype in Webflow means it's much easier and faster to account for responsive design. After going through page by page and providing UX insight, content enhancements, and recommendations to components and infrastructure, I was able to create layouts that could easily be configured for a responsive layout.

The importance of responsive design is rapidly growing and evolving to be the norm, and the Concierge Diamonds audience was a pretty even split between desktop and mobile shoppers. Getting the adaptive behavior right, and providing a consistent experience to start on one device and finish on another, was important to the success of these layouts.

founding the digital brand with established principles and guidelines

The final step of my involvement in the new Concierge Diamonds website was building a component library and style guide that could help guide the front-end and back-end developers who were taking the design and putting it into Drupal. Creating a governance document, with guidelines for intended functionality, but also providing the variety of adaptations of a component, was critical for handoff.
